This driver supports the official Nintendo Wii U Gamecube USB adapter. Display Install Instructions. GameCube Controller USB Conversion Mod 07 March 2016 by Garrett Greenwood. Myself and many others agree that Nintendo's GameCube controller is one of the best controllers made. Its asymmetric stick layout and major/minor face buttons make it perfect for playing platform fighters and retro games. The Nintendo GameCube controller also could be used in the Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii system. To honor that devoted loyalty to a classic way to play, Nintendo is announcing the GameCube Controller Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Edition. Finally, the GameCube controller has fewer buttons than the Xbox 360 controller, which is what most games with controller support are based around. If you had a PC controller in the style of a GameCube controller, and it was XInput, then it might work with some games. The lack of buttons would definitely cause problems though.

This wikiHow teaches you how to use a Gamecube Controller on a PC. Zadig allows you to install USB drivers for your controller. It also works well. I'm using the wii u adapter for dolphin emulation. I have an xbox one controller that I use for other games. Before installing the drivers for the gc. My controller's joystick has sunken into the controller and stays slightly tilted if i move it to the right. Yet when I go to the 'rogue joystick' portion of the troubleshooting guide, it tells me to repair the joystick if it's not correctly attached to the motherboard.

Gamecube adapter drivers interfere with other gamepads? sorry if this isn't the best place to post

I'm using the wii u adapter for dolphin emulation. I have an xbox one controller that I use for other games. Before installing the drivers for the gc controller, the xbox one pad worked fine. Now, certain games like Dark Souls that don't have controller configuration cannot be controlled by the xbox one controller.

I believe it's because even when I stop the driver and unplug the gamecube adapter, the four ports still appear as devices in the control panel. Certain games then think my gamecube controller is still plugged in, and only allow themselves to be operated through that controller.

I've confirmed that when plugged in, the gc controller will control Dark Souls for example. There's an option in controller settings that says 'choose default controller,' and I've set that to the xbox one controller, but it does nothing.

The problem is not with the xbox controller itself. I can test it through the control panel, and it works fine. I can use it normally in applications like fightcade or dolphin. It's only a problem with applications that do not allow me to change controller settings.

Another thing I've noticed is that in the list of game controllers in control panel, the four gc ports appear first, with the xbox controller listed last. Maybe that's what determines which device applications like Dark Souls use. But I see no way to change the listed order.

I suppose I could uninstall the drivers every time I wanted to use another controller, but that would be too much of a hassle.

Yes, I have looked my problem up online and found nothing.

ty in advance

Edit: Found the answer on Amazon. Posting here for future reference:

Make sure to read this entire post before touching anything so you know what to do before you actually do anything. You will be replacing a driver, and if you select the wrong one you will end up with a much more complex issue. Plug the adapter in (if you only have one USB port available you can use just the black plug. The grey one is only used to power controller vibration. Put the adapter into Wii u mode and download zadig (http://zadig.akeo.ie/). With the adapter in Wii U mode, at least the black usb plugged in, open zadig, windows will ask if you want to allow the program access to the hard drive. Make sure you click yes, otherwise the program may not work if you select no or just x it out. In Zadig click the opions tab, then click on 'list all devices' (it should be the first option int he menu). Next click the drop down menu and choose the option 'WUP-028' and then click replace driver. (Make sure you select the correct device. You don't want to screw up drivers for something else.) In Dolphin go to the controllers menu and make sure it says adapter detected and click on direct connect. (You can also check rumble if you would like to enable the rumble of the controller. Just make sure the grey usb is connected to the computer. This is not required, just if you want your controller to rumble) You do not need to enable any controllers, just plug it in a port and it will work. Just keep in mind that if you plug a gamecube controller into port 1 and want to use, for example, an xbox controller you will need to set up the xbox controller as controller 2 since port 1 is taken. And there you go. You should now be able to play dolphin games with your gamecube controller. If you get confused the wiki page for Dolphin (https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=How_to_use_the_Official_GameCube_Controller_Adapter_for_Wii_U_in_Dolphin) explains a different way to do it. Zadig just makes it easier to replace the driver without going into device manager. I believe Zadig is also only for Windows, so the wiki link I provided will provide instructions for OSX, Linux, and Android. see less

That was really easy and seems to be working perfectly.

FYI, this is awesome, playing with the original GCN controller is so much better than using an Xbox or PS4 controller. You really need those clicky shoulder triggers in some games like Rogue Squadron. After playing one mission I already felt like it was worth the $20.
